Widespread empathy: five steps to achieving greater impact in philanthropy

Through examples from the field, this publication from GEO provides concrete steps grantmakers can take to build a gut-level connection with their stakeholders. Having widespread empathy allows funders to base their decisions and actions on an authentic, firsthand understanding of the perspectives of grantees, community members and other partners. In turn, we become more effective as our work is grounded in more thorough, ground-level knowledge of organisational and community priorities and needs.

Although published in 2011, these steps are relevant today.
